Web Hosting or *Internet Website Hosting Service* is what you need if you want to build a website, and have it accessible by people surfing the internet. Once you build a website, you need a place to put it for everyone to see. You therefore need a web hosting account. A basic web hosting account consists of an allotment of storage space on a server where you can upload your website. The account would have a username and password which you would need to connect to the server (with an FTP program or with FrontPage) before uploading your website, as well as a multitude of other resources that you would have access to. These could include email addresses, databases, mailing lists, forum boards, cgi scripts, etc. Web hosting accounts are located on a *servers* (or computer), and their speed will depend on the size of the server's connection to the internet, and the speed of the server itself. The server where your web hosting account is located would also have several programs installed, giving you more features to work with in your website design work. These include Apache Server software, MySQL, PHP, FrontPage extensions, Linux Operating System, Email programs, and CPanel interfacing. Many of these are background programs that you would not need to know about. There are typically many hosting accounts located on a single server, as it is typically the connection to the internet that is slower than the server itself, thus becoming the *weakest link* in the chain. Many web designers are the designers for multiple websites, and so may need several web hosting accounts (one for each website). As well, there are many people who wish to grow their own web hosting business, by starting out as a reseller for a larger hosting company. Realizing this, many web hosting companies (ourselves included) have developed Reseller Plans which typically offer discounts for multiple accounts. In fact, it is this market that Alwaiz.com has modeled itself after. However, instead of merely offering a 10%, 20% or even 50% discount when buying additional accounts (standard for many web hosting companies), we've taken it a step further and allow customers to *split* their web hosting accounts (which we call plans) into multiple hosting accounts.
